Joel Block
Joel Block, Ph.D. is a psychologist and published author. He is a specialist[1][2] on relationships and sexuality, and has appeared on numerous television and radio[3] shows. Block has also been a Psychology consultant for ABC.[4] Block is an assistant clinical professor of psychology/psychiatry at both the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and The Hofstra University North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. He is also a senior psychologist at North Shore-LIJ Health System where he was the training supervisor of the hospital's Sexuality Center for twenty years, until 2002. He currently resides in Melville, New York.
Early life and education
Block was born in 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, and later attended the State University of New York, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education/Psychology. He also obtained a Master of Science degree in Psychology, and later went on to obtain his Doctorate in psychology from Syracuse University. He also undertook a one year postdoctoral fellowship in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Albert Ellis Institute.

Block has published numerous works[5] relating to his specialty of relationships and sexuality, as well as many articles in such magazines as New Woman, Family Circle, Working Woman, Parents, Boardroom Reports and Newsday and has been interviewed in Cosmopolitan, Esquire and Men's Health.
